Fancy being a safecracker? and want to learn how to open and repair safes? It’s not as easy as the movies make out! Safe engineers require a lot of training/experience and tools.
If you fancy expanding into this exciting area of locksmithing, the UK’s largest locksmith association run a 2-day safe opening course dealing with domestic and light to medium commercial safes.
What Does this 2 Day Safe Course Cover?
- Introduction to start at a common level of knowledge.
- Overview of safe construction, locking methods and opening techniques.
- Drill technology including sharpening, Drill rigs type, and use.
- Hard plate penetration and lock manipulation methods through a drilled hole.
- Relocking devices in detail- pitfalls and rectification.
- Safe repairs following the opening by penetration.
- Safe repairs and maintenance as a result of user problems excluding lock-out.
- Alter combination & cut new keys.
- Final assembly adjustments, test & hand safe back to the customer.
All subjects covered will be by taught by lecture and demonstration.
Practical Safe Opening – In the case of safe opening, students will examine safes in a open state followed by a practical opening of a randomly selected safe in teams of two by drill and tool manipulation.
A case of a lock-out due to relocker activated will also be demonstrated.
Skill Level:
- Good level of general locksmithing skills.
- No previous safe experience necessary – as this course is aimed at those wanting to add safe opening and repairs as a service to their business.
