The Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) represents all the key players in powered gates, industrial, commercial and garage doors, as well as the leading UK manufacturers and suppliers of building hardware, locks and architectural ironmongery.
DHF set up the Powered Gate Group in 2010, following the tragic death of two young children in separate accidents involving unsafe automated gates. Widely acknowledged to be at the forefront of raising industry standards, its mission is to represent all the UK’s leading manufacturers, suppliers, installers and maintainers of powered automatic gates and gate automation equipment; and significantly raise levels of safety.
Providing in-depth technical support, DHF give their members advice on meeting safety legislation and provide comprehensive training for powered gate installers. Since setting up the powered gate training diploma scheme, almost 400 individuals have successfully completed their training.
In 2014, DHF launched ‘Gate Safety Week’, which was initiated to raise awareness of the proper installation and maintenance of powered gates and how to prevent accidents. The campaign aims to educate and inform professional installers, industry contacts and the general public on the dangers centred around poorly installed and maintained powered gates, in addition to how to report an unsafe gate and what to look for.
Following an extremely successful campaign, DHF are once again holding ‘Gate Safety Week’ this year, from 12th – 18th October in a bid to continue to engage, educate and encourage best practise and improved standards across the industry. Most importantly, it is hoped that through ‘Gate Safety Week’, accidents resulting from unsafe powered gates will become a thing of the past.
